Jesus’ opinion about marriage

Quoting from Genesis 2:24, Jesus says in Mark 10:7-8, “For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.”

Marriage was instituted in the Garden of Eden by God in Genesis 2:24. Marriage is a model of the relationship between God and his Children (Israel) and continues with Jesus and the church (not replacing Israel or nullifying that relationship) as described by Paul in Ephesians 5:31-32.

“For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.”

If you’re a Christian and you’re wondering where Jesus stands on the issue of marriage between a man and a woman just read his own words.

Jesus says in John 15:18 “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you”
